TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - You can now learn how to make healthier food choices. The Terre Haute Farmers Market is holding a new program for kids called the GrowTH Club.
It takes place every Saturday until August 24. This is a partnership with Purdue Extension and the health department. The club will feature different activities each week focused on nutrition and physical activity.
Participants under the age of 18 will receive a $3 voucher for fresh fruit and veggies at the vendor of their choice each week.
Community wellness coordinators say this is a great way to encourage more kids to eat healthier foods.
"Exposing kiddos to healthy foods and getting them excited about things such as smoothies is so important for their entire lives. We just want to fun and make them excited," said Cholee Hurst, Purdue Extension Vigo County.Â
The Terre Haute Farmers Market is located at the Meadows parking lot. The club runs from 8 a.m. until noon.
