TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A man was sentenced in connection to a 2020 Terre Haute murder.

Richard Durbin was sentenced Friday for his involvement in Dwane French's murder on August 21, 2020.

Durbin was one of four arrested. He was originally charged with murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, armed robbery, aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon.

His plea deal saw his charges downgraded to aiding in robbery.

His total sentence is set for 16 years, but some circumstances could see him spend less time behind bars. He will get credit for time served, which is just under two years.

He will be able to shave six years off of his sentence if he gets a GED along with drug and alcohol courses while behind bars. The jusge said Durbin would also need to testify against Jesse Hess.

Hess is the only person left in the group who hasn't gone to trial.
