It should be noted that several historians of Catharism, united with representatives of the Occitan culture, have already requested the attention of the Catholic Church in the past in order to ask for an official pardon for the Cathar genocide, but in vain. Therefore, to this day, the Cathar genocide remained, so to speak, the only unconfessed and unrecognized crime of the Church of Rome.
